Pushpa Pallaki is an annual festival celebrated in Tirumala in the month of July.As per the tradition followed by the Devasthanam; temple financial records begin from Dakshinayana in July. Anivara Asthanam, the grand durbar festival of Lord Venkateswara, is commemorated on that day .
On this day the previous year’s account are submitted to the Lord and begins a new financial year with opening of a new book. All the principal officers of the temple put down their emblem of office at the feet of the Lord and take them back. The implication of the ceremony is that the Lord permits them to hold their individual offices as He considered them appropriate for their roles.
In the evening the Lord is taken round in demonstration on a ornately highlighted floral palanquin. It is a outstanding manifestation for followers who have participated in this arjitha seva to make out and enjoy the magnificent presence of the Lord. Sri Malayappa Swami and His consorts are exquisitely decked with ornaments and garlands during this seva.
Sophistication, elegance and grace marked the `Pushpa Pallaki‘ procession that was performed at the well-known hill temple of Lord Venkateswara on a July evening in association with the annual Anivara.
Astana festival was experimented in the middle of great spiritual enthusiasm inside the temple sanctum sanctorum. The air was thrilling with the chant of `Govinda Govinda’ by around several thousands of devotees who had gathered together all along the mada streets on all sides of the hill place of worship.
According to the temple authorities, thousands of kilograms of fragrant flowers went into the making of the elegantly decorated flower palanquin. Noted florists from altered States, who arrived at the temple town on Sunday, participated in the making of the palanquin. The colourful festival ended more than one-and-half hours. Earlier in the morning, Astana was conducted inside the temple sanctum. In association with the festival, the TTD had voided all the daytime arjitha sevas going on inside the temple.
